SCULPTOR - PAINTER - JEWELER
Welcome to my website!
My name is Renie Herrera-McDonough and I create fine art and jewelry. I have been an artist most of my life, always painting, drawing, and doing watercolor. My paintings are fresh and modern with a sense of immediacy, a the moment caught in time. My goal as an artist is to capture the light and give the viewer a glimpse of what so many of us never see.
BIO
Born and raised in Richmond California, I went to night school at Diablo Valley College and received an AA Degree. I then transferred to California College Of Arts and Crafts. While at College of Art's and Crafts, I studied at the campus in Mexico. I went in as a painter came out with a B.F.A. Degree in Sculpture. After that, I continued my studies at the Boston museum school. I worked as an apprentice for Murray's Leather on Cape Cod and did craft shows in the greater Boston area.
I then returned to California and worked a number of jobs while pursuing my training in art, taking ceramics, then sculpture with clay, and then metal and welding. Now I am taking Jewelery classes! Always in the Arts, I have a need to be creative.
In 2002, I met Ann Marie Glover started painting with her then with her Famous mother Pam Glover member of The Outsiders, a well known Bay Area painting group. We paint the beautiful vistas and unique landscapes our area has to offer. Now I'm also painting with Iris Saber and friends, as well as ttaking a class with Van Waldren, who is an excellent painter and teacher. And as if that's not enough, I'm also take a painting class with Carol Tarzier! Carol is a sculptor as well as a fine painter. On my own, I also work with Oops Outside Oil Painters. Our Monday group is headed by Iris Saber. We just paint. Whomever would like to come along is welcome (however, no instruction is included).

My artwork is currently hanging in the Alameda Art Gallery in Towne Centre, Alameda, California. My paintings hang in homes round the country, including:
